DESCRIPTION:Long Leaf Pine Planting and Restoration Day at the Big Thicket Preserve\n\n12/13/25 09:00 AM CST\n - 12/13/25 12:00 PM CST\Description:\nThe Houston Sierra Club (HSC) provides members and the public with information and encourages them to follow through based upon that information.\n\nThe following outing, which plants native trees and/or other plants in Big Thicket National Preserve (BTNP), isn’t a Sierra Club sponsored service outing but is a National Park Service (NPS) official event. The HSC encourages our members and the public to participate and give back to our National Park public lands with this NPS event.\n\nOn Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 9 am to noon, the NPS and others will plant Longleaf Pine tree seedlings and/or other native plants to restore this forest ecosystem in the Big Sandy Creek Unit of BTNP.\n\nAll equipment will be provided by the NPS. Information packets will be sent to all registered volunteers prior to the planting day which will give the planting location and the most up-to-date logistical information. The exact location for this planting day is to be determined and will be sent out to participants via email before the planting day. You’ll hike from the parking area to the planting area and then back to the parking area.
