Event Description
The Houston Sierra Club will host a presentation by Paige Powell about the Seven Water Impacts of Carbon Capture and Storage.
The energy industry and major media outlets promote carbon capture and storage (CCS) as a key solution to curbing the greenhouse gas pollution driving the global climate crisis. Is this technology really a safe pathway forward, or is it just more industrial greenwashing that puts already-vulnerable communities at even greater risk? Join us for a conversation on the Seven Key Water Impacts of CCS, presented by native Houstonian, educator, and activist Paige P. Powell.
Paige’s life’s work has been to minimize negative externalities within our capitalist society by advancing solutions-oriented guardrails for industrial and mobile-source pollution; to that end, she maintains technical expertise in several facets of urban and environmental policy at the intersection of community health. Paige holds degrees in economics and public policy from the University of Houston; is a Certified Public Manager, Climate Reality Leader, founding member of Houston Climate Movement, and founder of GreenFaith Houston. Her nonprofit consultancy, PPP Strategies, works to advance Climate Justice by supporting allied organizations and initiatives with a diverse suite of services to increase effective impact.
