Environmental Permits: The Key to a Fact-Based Campaign.
Often, a community learns about a pollution problem in their neighborhood late in the game. Facts about the facility are often uncertain, unreliable, or unavailable. A public hearing may be scheduled, but with the public kept in the dark, residents have little to guide their campaign. This training session is designed to help grassroots groups get the information they need from environmental permits—air, water, waste, and more. Environmental permitting agencies exist in nearly every city, county, state, and at the federal level. This training session provides the keys to unlocking the information sources that help even the playing field and alter the balance of power. It is designed to increase strategic effectiveness both for new community organizers and seasoned veterans.
