Who is paying for Texas's toxic legacy?

Date/Time
11/20/2025
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM Central
Event Description

Last year, the Texas Railroad Commission, which regulates oil and gas exploration, spent $6.95 million to plug one water blowout, incurring millions in water management costs alone.

This week we'll take a hard look at the thousands of orphaned and leaking oil wells that threaten water safety, fuel earthquakes, and leave taxpayers to cover the cost.

Keith May, project manager for the Texas Railroad Commission’s State Managed Well Plugging Program; Hawk Dunlap, current candidate for the Railroad Commission; and Virginia Palacios, executive director of Commission Shift, will join us.
