Join us for this online lecture for an engaging overview of forest ecology and the history of forestry in Texas, highlighting the unique role of W.G. Jones State Forest. Participants will explore past and current management practices, including conservation of the Red‑Cockaded Woodpecker, implementation of Best Management Practices, and ongoing education and outreach efforts. The session also showcases current initiatives such as the native tree and plant nursery project and how they support forest health, research, and community stewardship.
Jaden Kelly is a Conservation Education Program Specialist with the Texas A&M Forest Service, where he leads education, outreach, and service programs at the W.G. Jones State Forest and across the Greater Houston Region. Jaden also co-coordinates Project Learning Tree for the State of Texas, helping educators and community partners connect children to forests and natural resources through hands‑on learning.
