Houston Sierra Club's General Meeting: Forest Ecology and Advocacy in Southeast Texas
7:30 PM - 9:00 PM Central
The Houston Sierra Club's general meeting this month will focus on Forest Ecology and Advocacy In Southeast Texas. Everyone is welcome.
Doors open at 7:00 pm for social time, meet & greet. Program presentation begins at 7:30 pm.
Brandt Mannchen will be the featured speaker, and will provide a brief overview of forest ecosystems, forest ecology, and the natural and human impacts on forests in Southeast Texas including the Houston Area. Do you enjoy getting back to nature and going for hike or stroll in one of our many public parks/ lands? If we don’t fight for them, they’ll disappear.
Did you know that having a 100-mile hiking trail across Sam Houston National Forest in TX (Lone Star Hiking Trail) was the brain child of the Lone Star Chapter of the Sierra Club, and the Club worked with the Forest Service to create it?
And why does natural fauna and tree species matter?
Come find out the answers to these questions and what forest advocacy looks like at this presentation.
