On Sunday, April 26, bayou and greenspace groups including Hollywood Bayou Coalition and A Tale of Two Bridges invite you to join us for an afternoon of family-friendly festivities, including free berry-picking, along White Oak Bayou, coupled with mingling, cobbler-making, and beverages of your choice at Patterson Park Patio Bar.

Last spring, the Chapmans (including then 4-year-old Paul, pictured picking berries) noticed an enormous patch of wild blackberries growing along White Oak Bayou, near Patterson Park.  Together with Emmanuel from ATOTB, we’ve been plotting a fun event to bring together neighbors and anyone who cares about bayous, greenspaces, walkability, bikeability, and urbanism in Houston.

All you need is to RSVP and show up (ideally by walking or bike!) with a basket / bucket for berry-picking.  We will have a number of kid-friendly activities and setups for cooking blackberry cobbler on-site (mobile mini-ovens).

If you’re part of a relevant group and would like to get involved (e.g. by hosting a table at the event), please email Taylor or Emmanuel accordingly.

Update – added our first additional partner! Fit Houston will be at the event – come out and learn about their great walking programs!
